A continuation of the first post about Jackal<\/a>. I died a few times, but I finally completed the journal quest “Starting From Scratch”, and the next one – “Territorial Ambitions” – started right away. We have a cosy cave with an iron vein, so it is time for the basic grind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grinding in the cave: a forge full of iron lumps, I am improving my tools, there is a pile of ore next to me, and the rest of the crew is forging chain armour and mining onwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are forging chain armour. Armour chains made from lumps on the large anvil come out with a 38% chance, and my chain armour smithing is barely 5.5. The first chain boots, coif and gauntlet are already lying in the forge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A chain boot with a 19% chance. "You almost made it, but the chain boot is useless" – this will take a while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have nowhere to keep my toys, so I am building a small cart. Here it is still unfinished, in a birch forest – a few minutes later, after the last planks, small nails and shafts, it was done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cart is done – cedarwood, with my name etched in the stern, improved right away to QL 13.5. It stands by the palisade of Freedom Outpost West, inventory unloaded. Now it is time to go looking for bandages, tar and other everyday essentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Botanizing and foraging around: eggs, cotton, vegetables, herbs, berries. From an onion, fresh parsley and a handful of grass, leaves and moss I finally made a healing cover and put it on the bruise on my chest – bandaged, treated, healing. The wound will start to heal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first bigger settlements are already appearing on Jackal. On the way I pass Rinjas Used Cars, Friendly Frontiers Coterie Crew and Lemosa – a paved square with workshops on the slope, and below it pens full of horses and tamed spiders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Combat practice on a practice doll made of birchwood shafts, planks and a pumpkin for a head. I slash at its shoulders, calves and underarms with a longsword – Fighting and Longsword slowly go up while the doll gets more and more battered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
